Celebrating 7 years of the Victory Garden Community Gathering

The Harvest Gathering is a celebration of the connections we experience to the Earth, for each other and tasting delicious foods.  This is the 7th year of the Victory Garden Celebrations and due to the response for the hearty soups last year, we decided to bring it back.  For the Victory Garden, the 2017 season was challenging from a weather perspective, fixing equipment and installing technology.  The great news is our friends and faithful supporters, who as always gave all.

There is much to celebrate with our local friends.

The weather definitely have changed and so must we.  Our future plans include more greenhousing strategies and digital education.   Learning to cope and reducing our carbon footprint increases our resolve and response to changing conditions.  Greenhouses, Hoophouses, coldframes and other season extension strategies are ways will influence the operational side of the garden in the coming years.

Rethinking energy

Throughout the years, I’ve had a rough time adjusting to daylight saving time in terms of sleep. I often wondered how it came about and did a lot of research, which I find quite interesting. Amazing how one’s ability to observe and invent concepts can affect actions. Take Benjamin Franklin, who responded to an incident when he awoke and wrote about his observation of light, quite amazing.
