Vision: to inspire a sustainable way of life.
The Foundation for Building Sustainable Communities (FBSC), incorporated in 2003, as a Canadian not for profit.
Guiding Principle
To engage community by encouraging action that are simple, easy and viable leading to a sustainable and healthy lifestyle.
Mandate:
to preserve and repair the environment and to ameliorate the living conditions of the underprivileged
Mission: to cultivate sustainable sensibilities
FBSC collaborates with organizations, government, educational institutions and social entrepreneurs to encourage community members to reduce their carbon footprint and lead sustainable lifestyles.
The focus of FBSC is clean, safe water, energy conservation and local community development. The Foundation for Building Sustainable Communities adheres to the United Nations definition of sustainable development which is:
“Development that meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
FBSC hosts community fairs that focus on awareness and addresses the growing environmental concerns of water, energy, and food. Previous fairs include the Energy Conservation Fair and the Earth Day Fair. Both fairs brought community members who expressed the desire to learn more about the environment and how to save money.
FBSC promotes Canadian technologies and expertise to the developing and developed world.
The Foundation’s work is conducted through the cooperation and dedication of staff, volunteers and joint partnerships involved with specific programs or projects.
