Oshawa Community Earth Hour
Earth Hour is a perfect example of community engagement, where citizens influence decisions.
March 2011
The Foundation for Building Sustainable Communities in partnership with the City of Oshawa, Oshawa Public Utilities Commission hosts the Annual Earth Hour Community Event.
Earth Hour is a global event that started in one city to promote climate change and encourage small actions, such as turning off the lights for one hour.
For the Oshawa Earth Hour event, over 140 people come to a drumming circle lead by Mary Brennan, who, helped us feel the music while the lights were turned off. Everyone agreed that is was a fun time and look forward to doing it again in 2012.
Go beyond one hour and turn your lights off when you are not using them. It saves money and the environment too
